What does Reserve mean?

Professors typically ask to have materials placed on Physical Reserve so that all students in a course have equal access to a key resource.  Loan periods are restricted to a few hours or a few days so that the material is returned quickly, allowing other students in the course to borrow the item.

Milne Library's Reserve Desk is located within our Service Desk area (formerly known as Circulation).  See the following map of the library's main floor to locate the Service Desk.

Professors may also place material on reserve using myCourses. This material will be accessible online for students in a specific class.

Course Reserves and Textbook Loan Policies

Unlike materials from the stacks, Physical Reserve Materials have the following restrictions:

Loan periods for reserve materials are: 1 day or 4 hours (Please check at the Service Desk)

Reserve materials cannot be renewed. Students may only check out one reserve item at a time.

Fines accrue at $5.00 per hour. Please hand returns to a service desk student or staff member to ensure item is checked into system.

Finding Physical Course Reserves and Textbooks

Use this search box to search for Professor’s name, Title of the textbook/material, or Course Number*

* Search Tip: When searching for a course number, don't put a space between the course code and the number. For instance, you would type "curr313" rather than "curr 313" into the search box.

This box searches only those books on reserve behind the service Desk.
