Find Articles (Recommended Databases)
Use one or more of these databases to locate articles on a topic. Below are some basic search tips:
Quotations marks (" ") will group words as a phrase, ensuring they appear next to each other in the record. For example: "Corporate Speak" or "constructive criticism."
An Asterisk (*) at the end of a term will allow you to search for different forms of a word with what you enter as a base. For example: econ* will return results for economy, economic, economics, economist, economical, etc.

Occupational Outlook Handbook
Occupational data for hundreds of jobs, such as teacher, lawyer, doctor, librarian. Data includes training and education needed for a particular occupation, earnings, expected job prospects, job descriptions and working conditions.
Informative Presentation Assignment

You will be presented a 5-6 minute Informative Presentation on the topic of your choice.
As part of this assignment, I will require the following:
- A full prepared, properly formatted, typed, printed outline.
- A bibliography in APA style (minimum 10 sources)
- 1 source may be from an encyclopedia
- 1 source may be from an in-class survey
- A minimum of three (3) Spoken Word Citations within your presentation
- A well-executed Google Slides or PowerPoint Presentation
Presentations will be on Wednesday March 13.
Informative Business Report Assignment
Congratulations! You have just been hired as an employee of your dream company!
Your boss has asked for a professional Informative Report to be presented to his or her board of directors. Here are the guidelines for this report:
- Choose a real company in an industry in which you would like to work (your major, perhaps).
- Find an issue, situation, event, or element of the status quo ("the world as it is") that would be of particular interest to that company.
- Find a recent (last year or so), interesting, and comprehensive article (or articles; 1 source, min)--reporting or writing from a reputable business or trade publication (eg. Wall Street Journal, Accounting Horizons, Advertising Age, etc--that discusses or analyze this issue, situation, event, or element of the status quo.
- Create a report based on classroom discussions and Chapter 9.4: Report in our text.
- Be sure to consider the functions, formatting, and styles as illustrated in Tables 9.3 and 9.4.
- This is an INFORMATIVE REPORT, and thus analysis and recommendations are not required. (It should be as objective and 'informative' as possible. Analysis insofar as is useful to draw conclusions about data trends may be warranted.)
- Send this report as a PDF attachment in a professional email to 'your CEO' Mr. Kevin Dedes (at <firstname.lastname@example.org> and BCC to your partner on this project, as well as a PDF on Canvas. Be sure to use proper formatting and email etiquette.
Be sure to utilize formal, business writing styles and organization.
The report will be due on Wednesday, April 3rd.
